Kenny Chesney laments all the 'Noise' in brand new single
“We didn’t turn it on, but we can’t turn it off,” laments country superstar Kenny Chesney on his brand new single, “Noise,” which dropped Friday morning. Phone screens, TV screens, and screaming politicians are all part of the regrettable din of American culture in 2016 here and Chesney wills listeners a way to lower the volume on all.
Chesney released the tune, which was written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, and Jon Nite and is the first taste of his late-spring anticipated 16th studio LP, during a Facebook interview. “There are all these different frequencies in our head, and it’s overwhelming,” he said of the song’s inspiration. “And we didn’t necessarily ask for all of it, but we’re getting all of it.”
When Chesney announced the still-untitled follow-up to 2014’s The Big Revival earlier this month the singer said his goal was to go for something new, different. “I wanted to find new ways and new things to record,” he said via a release. If “Noise” is any indication, he’s right on track.
Chesney will launch another massive summer tour April 23. Supported on all dates by Old Dominion, he’s also joined by Miranda Lambert and Sam Hunt. Dates can be found on Chesney’s website.
