The Young and the Restless just snagged a Coppola to play a doctor.

No, she’s not from that family. But Alicia Coppola is from the CBS family: she appeared on several seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles and now she’s joining the daytime drama as Dr. Meredith Gates.

She’ll show up in Genoa City on April 13.

“I haven’t really read something like that in a long time, something that was so dynamic and interesting that I automatically saw a backstory,” Coppola told Soap Opera Digest, which first reported the news. “She feels things very deeply, and I just think there’s a lot more going on than what’s on the surface. I like that.”

Prior to playing FBI Agent Lisa Rand on NCIS: LA, Coppola has been featured on Criminal Minds, Sons of Anarchy, and Teen Wolf.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
