Miguel Arteta is on the bus for Sorta Like a Rockstar.

The Youth in Revolt helmer has signed on to develop and direct the film adaptation of Matthew Quick’s YA novel for Fox Searchlight Pictures, EW has confirmed.

Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) is writing the screenplay, which centers on a teenager who secretly lives in the back of the school bus her mom drives for work. Though she maintains a positive outlook, the girl’s unyielding optimism is tested by a tragedy.

Arteta most recently directed Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and his credits also include The Good Girl and Cedar Rapids.

Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill and Lee Stollman and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of the Gotham Group are producing Rockstar.

Deadline first reported Arteta’s involvement.
