Lena Headey teases Cersei's season 6 relationship with brother-lover Jaime
The relationship between Cersei and Jaime Lannister is about to hit an “all-time weird level” in season 6 of Game of Thrones — which is really saying something.
Actress Lena Headey teases her character’s arc in an upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s probably her most interesting season,” says Headey, whose performance on Thrones last year landed her an Emmy nomination. “She really has nothing to lose and she has everything to gain from a horrible position she finds herself in.”
Released back to the Red Keep, last season’s punishing Walk of Shame hangs over Cersei as she reunites with Jaime, who failed miserably in his mission to bring back their daughter Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) alive. Yet Cersei wants Jaime’s help to defeat the Faith Militant ongoing power grab in King’s Landing. While Cersei and Jaime are two of the longest-running and strongest allies on the show, until this year we’ve seldom seen them actively work together (at least, not since the first season). “Her relationship with Jaime is at an all-time weird level,” says Headey, who then adds about the new episodes: “It’s juicy, and it’s so f–king dark.”
On Monday, Benioff and Weiss revealed they believe season 6 will rank as the show’s best season, and earlier on Tuesday they gave some details about the unprecedented battle sequence in the season.
