After the subdued style of her “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” music video with John Legend, the “No” clip sees Trainor trying her hand at genuine pop star choreography, surrounded by a gaggle of dancers as they writhe around what appears to be a grungy, abandoned warehouse.
After releasing “No” in early March, the single shot to #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it currently sits alongside a #12 spot on Top 40 radio.
Trainor’s new album, Thank You, is scheduled for a May 13 release. Earlier this month, the 22-year old told EW that her Thank You sessions reflected a “nice” side of her, but that Epic Records boss L.A. Reid told her to spice things up for a single, which resulted in “NO” being recorded. “I told my producer we needed a big eff-you song, an anthem about girl power that sounded like nothing on the album,” she said, referencing the album’s lyrics, which seemingly reject the idea of a man tactlessly flirting with her.
