The Go-Go's announce farewell tour
Best Coast and Kaya Stewart will open on the 18-date trek.
The Go-Go’s announced their farewell tour Monday. The famed all-female power-pop band will play 18 gigs this August, kicking off the stint August 2 in Clearwater, Florida and wrapping on August 30 in Los Angeles. Best Coast and Kaya Stewart will serve as openers.
“After a 38-year run, we are gearing up for one last blast of a summer tour,” the band said in a statement. “We feel so lucky and so grateful to have had the incredible support of our fans for so long. We can’t wait to get out on the road and give the people what they want: some loud, fast music and a great party!”
The Go-Go’s made their name in the ’80s with hits like “We Got the Beat” and “Vacation,” both of which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The August concerts will include most of the band’s “classic” lineup — Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, and Gina Schock — but not bassist Kathy Valentine, who left the group in 2013 due to “irreconcilable differences” and later sued her former bandmates.
