What time is The Passion?
The Passion airs tonight, Sunday, March 20, at 8 p.m. ET/PT and 7 p.m. CT. The pre-show, which is exclusive to Fox Now (the network’s mobile app for streaming), begins at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT and 6:30 p.m. CT.
Is there a live stream?
Viewers in select markets can watch a live stream of The Passion via Fox.com and Fox mobile apps starting at the same time the special debuts on the local Fox channel. What is The Passion about?
The Passion is set in the modern day and features passages from the Bible. The story centers on the last hours of Jesus Christ’s life on Earth, culminating in a procession of hundreds of people carrying a 20-foot illuminated cross through the streets of New Orleans.
Who’s in The Passion?
Tyler Perry (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2) hosts and narrates The Passion, which features Jencarlos Canela (NBC’s Telenovela) as Jesus Christ, singer Chris Daughtry as Judas, Seal as Pontius Pilate, country star Trisha Yearwood as Mary, and Prince Royce as Peter. Other featured performers include gospel singer Yolanda Adams, social media personality Gabriel Conte, and musicians Shane Harper and Michael W. Smith.
What’s on the tracklist?
The Passion‘s soundtrack features a tracklist of 16 songs, including Yearwood performing “My Love Is Your Love,” “I Won’t Give Up,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” and “Broken.” Daughtry will feature on “Bring Me To Life,” a duet of “Demons,” and an ensemble rendition of “Love Can Move Mountains,” while Seal’s big solo number comes with “Mad World.” See the full tracklist here.
What other live musicals are from Fox?
Grease: Live marked Fox’s first foray into live musical TV specials after similar performances of The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, and The Wiz on NBC. The ensemble cast featured Julianne Hough as Sandy (played by Olivia Newton John in the film version), Aaron Tveit in John Travolta’s famous role of Danny Zuko, and Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo.
The Passion will be Fox’s second venture, to be followed by a live musical performance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Tim Curry, who famously portrayed “sweet transvestite” Frank-N-Furter in the film version of 1975, returns to narrate Fox’s reboot, and Laverne Cox (Orange Is the New Black) succeeds him in the role. Adam Lambert (Eddie), Christina Milian (Magenta), Penny Dreadful‘s Reeve Carney (Riff Raff), and newcomer Staz Nair (Rocky) will also feature.
