Trisha Yearwood gave fans a sneak peek at her transformation into Mary, the mother of Jesus, ahead of Fox’s live musical event The Passion on Sunday.

Yearwood, who will sing several current musical hits during the show, shared a time-lapse video of the makeup process to Facebook on Saturday, telling viewers, “The next time you see me, I will be Mary. Wish me luck!”

The 51-year-old country singer’s hair was perfectly coifed by a stylist while another woman applied her makeup. Yearwood later swapped her floral red robe for a fitted blue, long-sleeve dress on stage.

Telling the story of the last hours of Christ’s life, The Passion incorporates modern-day music, including Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” which Yearwood will perform. The event will be filmed live on multiple stages throughout New Orleans, and also features Seal as Pontius Pilate and Jencarlos Canela as Jesus Christ.

“I’m having to sing songs that I’m going to be singing at the foot of the cross, and I had to be thinking about what was happening in the story when I was singing the song,” Yearwood previously told PEOPLE of recoding the show’s soundtrack. “I got very emotional, which is not the norm for me in the studio. That was the last time I’ve cried.”

The Passion airs live Sunday at 8 p.m. (ET) on Fox.
