Star Wars young Han Solo rumors: Taron Egerton responds
Along with names like Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Miles Teller (Fatastic Four), and Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Taron Egerton is reportedly being considered to play young Han Solo in a new Star Wars film. One of these gentlemen has already addressed the news, and now the Kingsman star has shed more light.
While on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show to promote Eddie the Eagle, Egerton said, “I’ve heard this rumor, yes. I mean I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that,” he said. “It’s very, very flattering. I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is then you know where I am.”

This isn’t the first time Egerton has been name-dropped in buzzworthy Hollywood reports, and he probably learned a thing or two from his costar Hugh Jackman. Last year, a casting rumor linked the 26-year-old to young Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse (a role that eventually went to Tye Sheridan), and he handled those rumors with similar grace.
22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will tell the story of a young Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars anthology film scheduled for release on May 25, 2018. It will be the second in a series of standalone stories from Disney’s Lucasfilm, the first being Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is due in theaters Dec. 16.
