Ben Affleck back tattoo confirmed as fake by actor
During an interview with Mario Lopez about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for Extra TV, Affleck said the giant phoenix image was “fake for a movie.” He continued, “I actually do have a number of tattoos…but I try to have them in places where you don’t have to do a lot of cover up…they get sort of addictive, tattoos, after a while.”

Affleck was first spotted with the tattoo on the set of his movie Live By Night, costarring Zoe Saldana, Scott Eastwood, Sienna Miller, and Elle Fanning.
J.Lo called the tattoo “awful.” She told Watch What Happens Live, “I would tell him that! I would tell him, ‘What are you doing?’ It has too many colors. His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn’t be so colorful!”
Garner also mentioned the tattoo in a Vanity Fair interview that addressed their split. “You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”
