TV Land to reboot Heathers as comedy anthology
- Movie
Adding to the recent spike in TV reboots, TV Land has picked up a comedic anthology based on ’80s cult classic Heathers.
The project will put a modern spin on the Winona Ryder-led film, featuring a new heroine as she confronts a fresh but equally cruel clique. The twist? This time, the “outcasts” are the ones running the show. Jason Micallef (Butter) wrote the script, and Tom Rosenberg (The Age of Adaline) and Gary Lucchesi (Gone) will serve as executive producers.

Written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann, the original film centered on Veronica Sawyer (Ryder), a fresh-faced 17-year-old so fed up with the Heathers’ wiles that she teams with rebellious bad boy J.D. (Christian Slater) to take them down. It failed to achieve commercial success, but hit big with a niche audience of devotees, still landing on many of today’s best movie lists.
