Selena Gomez beats out Taylor Swift to become most followed person on Instagram

Taylor Swift reigned as the queen on Instagram until Monday, when her BFF Selena Gomez stole the title. The “Hands to Myself” singer currently boasts 69.5 million followers, while Swift trails with 69.2 million. Kim Kardashian takes third place with 63.7 million loyal IG fans.

Gomez climbed to the top with a mix of red carpet snaps, behind the scenes photos, shoutouts to fellow famous pals, and adorable throwbacks from her Barney days.

Some of her posts even feature her bestie who used to dominate Instagram.

But the former Disney star can’t take away the Insta-honors Swift earned in 2015. Three of the 26-year-old pop star’s pics landed among Instagram’s most liked photos of 2015, with six of her videos garnering enough likes to land in the top 10 of the medium.
