Adele London concert features on-stage engagement
Adele’s tunes are known for turning on the waterworks, but they can also usher in joy.
The 25 singer began her six-night concert residency in her hometown London on Tuesday night. During the show, Adele ceded part of the stage to a couple during her rendition of “Make You Feel My Love.” They got engaged.
Adele chatted with them on stage and asked the woman how she could hear her now-fiancé while she “was wailing away.”
The newly engaged couple told Adele that “Make You Feel My Love” was their song. “So you’ve been going out longer than I’ve been making music?” she quipped. (Bob Dylan recorded the original version in 1997, while Adele covered it in 2008.)
Adele hugged them before they left the stage, but humorously tried to lure them back with an important question the packed arena crowd probably wanted to know the answer to: “Wait, are you going to set a date?”
The 27-year-old singer told the crowd the engagement was “the most beautiful thing I’ve witnessed at one of my shows,” according to a Sun reporter in attendance.
Adele finishes her London leg March 22 and will return for another two gigs on April 4 and 5.
