Shadowhunters renewed for season 2

You know what they say: There ain’t no rest for the wicked … or those who fight them.

EW has confirmed that Shadowhunters will return for a second season on Freeform. The series, based on Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments books, tells the story of Clary Fray, whose 18th birthday reveals her fate as a shadowhunter: someone destined to fight the many evils of the world.

Shadowhunters premiered in January and gained a quick following thanks to both its built-in fan base and its coveted time slot — it follow’s Freeform’s biggest hit show, Pretty Little Liars, on Tuesdays.

The cast took to Facebook Live on Monday to announce the good news to fans:
