The event will stream live from Austin
Michelle Obama won’t be taking the SXSW stage alone this week — the First Lady will be joined by Missy Elliott, Sophia Bush, and Diane Warren for a panel that will be moderated by Queen Latifah.
Both the First Lady and President Obama are giving keynote presentations at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. President Obama gave his presentation Friday to kick off the fest and Michelle Obama’s talk will take place on Wednesday morning. Her panel will highlight her Let Girls Learn initiative, which aims to aid in getting proper education for young girls around the world.
In addition to a discussion of education for girls, the conversation will cover finding one’s passion and, given that it’s an SXSW Music event, music. The five women will have no shortage of things to talk about: most recently, Missy Elliott released new music, Diane Warren earned another Oscar nod with Lady Gaga for “Til It Happens To You,” Sophia Bush has been vocal about supporting feminist endeavors, and Queen Latifah is readying for a new music drama and a spot on the upcoming Hamilton Mixtape.
Michelle Obama’s keynote presentation will be on Wednesday, March 16 at noon ET. It will be broacast live from the SXSW website.
