Rockers Cage the Elephant are going on tour. The 34-date run in support of their 2015 release Tell Me I’m Pretty begins May 1 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and wraps June 26 in Phoenix, Arizona. Portugal. The Man will provide direct support while Broncho and Twin Peaks will also appear.

Steeped in sounds from the 1960s, the Dan Auerbach-produced Pretty marked a new direction for the quintet. When EW spoke to frontman Matt Schultz in advance of the album, he said the pivot was a result of a transformative set at Bonnaroo. “I had an incredible opportunity to play a Bonnaroo SuperJam last year with [Doors guitarist] Robby Krieger. We did a Doors song, and I realized that classic sound was thing that I wanted to hear. It felt very modern.”

The lyrics, which frequently ruminate on dread and are bathed in worry, are very natural to Schultz’s disposition, he told EW. “I suffer from a little depression at different times and more often than not, I find myself in this place where I feel impending doom — it’s always lingering around the corner. Maybe I fixated on it and wrote a lot about it on this record.”

The group is currently out through the end of the month on the Spring Fling Rock AF Tour with Silversun Pickups, Foals, and Bear Hands. All North American headlining dates are listed below.
