Kirsten Dunst is the latest to join the space race biopic Hidden Figures, her reps confirmed to EW.
Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Kevin Costner already star in the Fox 2000 film from director Ted Melfi (St. Vincent). Hidden Figures, written by Allison Schroeder, is an adaptation of Margot Lee Shetterly’s upcoming book Hidden Figures: The African American Women Mathematicians Who Helped NASA and the United States Win the Space Race.
The movie details the efforts of three African-American mathematicians — Katherine Johnson (Henson), Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughn — who worked on NASA’s Friendship 7 mission that resulted in astronaut John Glenn becoming the first American in space in 1962.
