How to Get Away With Murder boss on Wes parentage reveal in There's My Baby
Warning: This story contains major spoilers from “There’s My Baby,” Thursday’s episode of How to Get Away With Murder. Read at your own risk!
And here we thought the truth behind Rose’s death was going to be the most shocking reveal about Wes’ history this season on How to Get Away With Murder…
In the penultimate episode — read our full recap here — Annalise (Viola Davis) finally told Wes (Alfred Enoch) the truth that his mother did kill herself, but she did it because Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin) had raped Rose (Kelsey Scott), making Christophe his son.
“Whether or not to confront Wallace is what weighs on Wes in next week’s episode,” executive producer Pete Nowalk tells EW. “Old Wes might’ve gone right to Wallace, but new Wes knows you have to play these things carefully. He’ll have made up his mind by the time the season ends.”
We also discovered what exactly happened to Annalise’s baby since, you know, she doesn’t have a child in the present. Knowing that Christophe was basically still in danger because of Wallace, Annalise decided to risk being disbarred by going to the police. But her bid to actually do right by Wes’ late mother was in vain after getting into a freak car accident that killed her unborn child.

“Losing the baby left a scar that never fully healed, even to this day, so it’s definitely impacted how Annalise lives her life,” Nowalk says. “That said, there are years and years of her life that we haven’t yet seen in flashback. She’s the sum total of all her life experiences, and I’m just happy we get to explore even more of those in season 3.”
In the present, Annalise kicked the Keating Team out of her house in the midst of the “Where the hell is Phillip?” crisis, leading to a drunken hookup between Asher (Matt McGorry) and Michaela (Aja Naomi King) — for more scoop on that meeting of the minds, head to Spoiler Room! But it also resulted in a late-night confrontation where a drunken Laurel (Karla Souza) accused Annalise of forcing Frank (Charlie Weber) to kill Lila — a fact Annalise never knew, which sends her running home to mama (Cicely Tyson).
“The last time we saw them together, they shared a major cathartic and healing experience,” Nowalk says of the mother-daughter reunion. “That doesn’t mean there aren’t still a lifetime’s worth of secrets and resentments between them. One of these resentments will make a physical appearance in next week’s episode.”
