It’s the moment that broke the hearts of fans around the world: The Night’s Watch betraying and murdering their Lord Commander (Kit Harington) in the season 5 finale of Game of Thrones. Now for the first time, you can read the scene that killed Jon Snow — just as it appeared in the finale script (below).

The episode, titled “Mother’s Mercy,” was written by Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, who last fall won the Emmy for outstanding writing for a drama series for the hour. Though the pages are mostly familiar dialogue, there are a few insightful gems of description — such as giving the reader a sense of Snow’s thoughts while he’s reading messages from Northern houses at his desk.
