Survivor: Three players collapse in the show's scariest moment ever
[SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Wednesday’s episode of Survivor: Kaôh Rōng.]
They say bad things come in threes and that was certainly the case on Wednesday’s episode of Survivor: Kaôh Rōng when three different players collapsed and required emergency medical attention after competing in a brutal reward challenge with a seemingly endless digging portion staged in punishing 118 degree heat.
The carnage began when Debbie complained of feeling “like fire from the inside out” and went down with heat stroke after her Brains tribe won the challenge. Just as she began to recover after receiving medical attention from doctors, Caleb from the Beauty tribe and Cydney from the Brawn team also collapsed. Cydney appeared to be in uncontrollable tears, while Caleb was panting and unresponsive.

The scene turned into mayhem as crew members scurried about to assist various stricken players after host Jeff Probst called out, “Everyone on the crew is essential! Umbrellas, coolers, water — find a spot to help!” While Debbie and Cydney eventually recovered, Caleb was in a much more precarious position and required a chopper being sent out to evacuate him immediately as he was pulled from the game. “This is as far as you’re gonna go,” Probst told him. “We’ve got to take care of you. You’re a warrior, dude. I’m glad you were out here.”

Survivor has had plenty of medical emergencies over its 32 seasons, going all the way back to season 2 when Michael Skupin fell into the fire and burned his hands, but never has the show watched three people collapse at the same challenge. It was an unprecedented event, as the show’s medical department attended to various bodies to keep a scary situation from becoming a tragic one.
Amazingly, after all of that, there was still a whole other challenge and Tribal Council to go. The Brawn tribe lost once again (it’s what they do best, really), and then Alecia (who was criticized earlier for having the audacity to attempt to inspire her teammates while digging) was unanimously booted by tribe, which even attempted to vote her out right on the spot at the challenge. Can you feel the love?
