In her return to TV, Leighton Meester is ready to make history. Or at least remake history in Making History.

The Gossip Girl alum has signed on as the female lead in Fox’s time-travel comedy pilot, the network confirmed on Wednesday.

Executive produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord (Last Man on Earth) — as well as Julius “Goldy” Sharpe (The Grinder), who is penning the pilot — Making History centers on three friends who whisk their way through time and see major historical events, which lends complication to their lives back in 2016. The trio is led by a super-smart, maladjusted computer science professor named Dan (and played by Happy Endings vet Adam Pally), who invented time travel. Meester will star as Deborah, a self-educated colonial woman that they meet in the 18th century who espouses her modern views on gender and racial equality, which don’t quite play in 1775.
