After exploring the early magical communities in North America, J.K. Rowling is winding her time turner forward and examining “The Seventeenth Century and Beyond” with her second story in The History of Magic in North America

The story, which is now available over at Pottermore, recounts among other events, the Salem witch trials. The mass executions had a profound effect on the American wizarding world, as did the Scourers — a group of rogue magical mercenaries who changed the lives of witches and No-Majs alike.
