Hamilton cast to visit the White House for a special performance
- Stage
He might never have been president, but Alexander Hamilton will finally see the inside of the White House — kind of. Next week, the cast of Hamilton will hit the road and visit Washington D.C. where they’ll try out their educational program and perform a concert of Hamiltunes for students and the first family.
Star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda made the announcement during a special #Ham4Ham show that also included a brief but thorough history of the White House, along with fellow cast members (and U.S. presidents) Chris Jackson (George Washington), Daveed Diggs (Marquis De Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson) and Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison). First lady Michelle Obama also welcomed the cast via Twitter following the announcement.
Miranda retweeted her message and added, “We have a bit of a day ahead.”
And don’t worry about not being there to see it: Miranda has already taken care of that. “We’re going to shoot so many #Ham4Ham videos, you have no idea what’s about to hit you,” he promises. Watch the full announcement above.
