Aaron Paul is either very interested in Sony’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower or very fond of teasing his fans on the Internet — or maybe a little bit of both.

The Breaking Bad star has long been linked to various incarnations of the movie, which has endured several setbacks and false starts over the years but is finally moving forward with Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in leading roles.

And although Paul has not been confirmed to costar in the film, he told Yahoo Movies on Wednesday, “I think being in Dark Tower would be pretty cool.” His statement was in response to a question about what kind of franchise he’d like to participate in, if any.

The actor was then asked what his next project was: “Dark Tower,” he answered. “I’m kidding. Or am I? Those rumors are floating around. I spoke with Stephen King last night.”

That was only the latest instance of caginess from Paul, who once referred to the movie as a “huge dream” of his. On Tuesday, he tweeted at King and wrote, “How goes it my friend? So, about these Dark Tower rumors. What are your thoughts? Could you put in a good word for me?”

Representatives for Paul and Sony did not immediately respond to inquiries about Paul’s potential involvement in The Dark Tower. King, however, did reply to him.

“Indeed I will,” the author tweeted back. “I’m a big fan.”

The Dark Tower is scheduled to arrive in theaters Feb. 17, 2017.
