Susan Sarandon is Rose Byrne’s Jersey-accented, overbearing mother in the first official trailer for the comedy The Meddler.

Directed by Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist), The Meddler revolves around Marnie Minervini — played by Sarandon, who grew up in Edison, New Jersey — an aging, recently-widowed woman who moves to Los Angeles to reconnect with her screenwriter daughter.

The Meddler earned strong reviews after its debut as an official selection of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and the new trailer introduces the film’s comedic ensemble, which includes Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons, Saturday Night Live‘s Cecily Strong, Lucy Punch (Bad Teacher), and Casey Wilson (Happy Endings).

The Meddler hits theaters April 22.
