Fox’s Lethal Weapon pilot just got a little more Fast and Furious.
The Fast and the Furious star Jordana Brewster has joined the cast of the drama pilot that is based on the late-’80s action-movie franchise starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as LAPD detectives Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh. Brewster — whose recent credits include Furious 7, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Secrets & Lies, and Dallas — will play Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill, the straight-shooting LAPD’s hostage negotiator and in-house therapist who “occasionally gets stuck with a real hard case like Riggs.”

Fox’s pilot, which last month cast Damon Wayans as Murtaugh, reintroduces the characters like this: “When Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (not yet cast) suffers the loss of his wife and baby, he moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans), who, having recently suffered a ‘minor’ heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.”
Matt Miller (Chuck) penned the pilot script and is serving as an executive producer on this Warner Bros.-produced prospective series with McG (Terminator Salvation), who also will direct the pilot.
Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) has also been cast as Roger’s wife, Trish Murtaugh.
