As Mythbusters winds down its last season, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman can’t help but look back at their best stunts over the years. In Savage’s appearance on The Late Show Tuesday night, he talked to host Stephen Colbert about one of the first myths they busted: the idea that dropping a penny from the top of the Empire State Building could kill someone standing on the ground below. Savage and Hyneman calculated the terminal velocity of a penny and proved it wasn’t lethal by shooting Savage in the butt with one. Savage asked Colbert if he would help him do it again.

“There is no such thing as a fact which cannot be independently corroborated, so I’m gonna ask you to be scientific with me and help me re-corroborate this,” Savage said. “Would you shoot me in the ass with a penny?”

“I’d be honored,” Colbert said.

Savage gave Colbert a pneumatic air gun, complete with laser-point sight, with which to launch the penny. Then, for science, Colbert did in fact shoot Savage in the butt with a penny. Savage survived, once again confirming the myth busted.
