The Green Monkeys, Silver Snakes, and Red Jaguars will take on the hidden temple of Olmec once again. EW has confirmed that Nickelodeon plans to reboot its popular ’90s game show Legends of the Hidden Temple in 2016 as a TV movie.
Legends of the Hidden Temple, which ran for 3 seasons from 1993–1995, was a popular, Indiana Jones-themed children’s game show from an era when Nickelodeon was known chiefly for its game shows, including What Would You Do? and Nick Arcade. In Hidden Temple, six teams of kids would compete in physical and mental challenges with eliminations after every round. The last remaining team wins the opportunity to retrieve an artifact from the booby-trapped hidden temple within three minutes to win a larger prize.

Along with the Hey Arnold! movie the children’s network announced a few months ago, this will be the second Nickelodeon program from the ’90s to get the TV movie treatment, following a recent trend of reboots and revivals. Nickelodeon is slated to unveil further details about the Legends of the Hidden Temple movie at an upfronts event for advertisers on Wednesday.
The Legends of the Hidden Temple movie will be directed by Joe Menendez, who’s worked on several Nickelodeon shows, and it will be written by Jonny Umansky, Zach Hyatt, and Alex Reid. Umansky and Hyatt are also currently writing for Dwayne Johnson’s new show Boost Unit.
