Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs team for new album and tour
Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs have announced a collaborative new album, aptly titled case/lang/veirs, out June 17. Starting in June, the singer-songwriter dream team will also tour extensively in support of the record. They’ve already shared a lead single for the project: the sweeping, folk-tinged “Atomic Number,” streaming below.
According to a release, the collaboration first went into the works “several years ago,” when lang (EW’s first cover star) sent Case and Veirs a simple email that said, “I think we should make a record together.” Immediately responding with a resolute “yes,” Case and Veirs went on to contribute to Veirs’ 2013 record Warp and Weft. The upcoming project came together in the years since, and was recorded in Portland, Oregon between lang’s loft and Veirs’ dining room and backyard studio. Tucker Martine produces.
