Oscars 2016: Chris Rock monologue Twitter reactions
The Internet fueled largely positive reactions. While the likes of Stephen King, Ellen DeGeneres, and Oprah praised Rock’s gusto, American civil rights activist DeRay Mckesson took the opportunity to note “real things to protest,” such as police brutality and the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, still exist.
Elsewhere, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ming-Na Wen noted that he “hasn’t once brought up other minorities who have worse odds at the [Oscars].” See more reactions below.

During his monologue, Rock also threw a jab at Jada Pinkett Smith, who boycotted the Oscars over the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties,” he said. “I wasn’t invited.”
