Pretty Little Liars recently went through a five-year time-jump, but star Lucy Hale told James Corden Thursday night that even that might not last long. Corden asked her whether the next season might be the last, and though Hale declined to answer in the straight true-or-false manner he requested, she did admit that the show will be winding down soon. This news devastated Corden, but he kept it together enough to ask how Hale wanted the show to end.

“I used to say I wanted the show to end with them walking away in the sunset, they’re all happy living an A-free life, like no drama, right?” Hale said. “But I don’t. I want it to end really tragically.”

“Whichever way it ends is a tragedy, and you know that,” Corden said.
