Fresh off the release of his new album Wonderful Crazy Night, Elton John is not afraid to hold back.

The famously opinionated star recently sounded off about the authenticity of another pop star: Janet Jackson. “You know, f–king music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, ‘This is the greatest show — four and a half stars,'” John said in a new new interview with Rolling Stone. “It’s f–king lip-synced! Hello! That’s not a show! I’d rather go and see a drag queen. F–k off.”

Relatedly, John shared his thoughts later in the story about dressing in drag. “There’s something about British men that can’t wait to get into drag,” he said. “I’m very fortunate to have grown up in Britain, which has a very lethal and wicked black sense of humor.”

John and Jackson have both recently released albums, with the former putting out Wonderful Crazy Night earlier this month and the latter sharing Unbreakable last September. Jackson is still touring with the album and her dates run through August.
