'24' reboot casts Jimmy Smits in major role
- TV Show
The cast of Fox’s 24 reboot is really coming together: Now Jimmy Smits has signed on for a major role.
The Emmy-winning Smits (Dexter, Sons of Anarchy) has joined the 24: Legacy pilot as “a powerful U.S. Senator with higher political aspirations, who is married to the blazing smart former head of the Counter Terrorist Unit (Miranda Otto).”

Smits is joining previously announced cast members Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton), Miranda Otto (Homeland) and Teddy Sears (The Flash).
None of the original 24 cast is expected to appear in the new version of the show, which stars Hawkins and Otto as co-leads fighting domestic terrorist threats. If given a series order, 24: Legacy will also play looser with the original show’s distinctive “real time” format, with a 12-episode order instead of 24 episodes.
