Spotlight director Tom McCarthy will be joining forces with actress-singer Selena Gomez to executive produce her new Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, Gomez confirmed on Twitter Thursday.

13 Reasons Why is an adaptation of the popular young adult book of the same name, written by Jay Asher. The story follows 13 high schoolers, whom a depressed classmate named Hannah blames for her suicide in posthumous cassette tapes. Although Gomez started her career as an actress, she is attached only as an executive producer.

Gomez confirmed McCarthy’s addition as an executive producer to the 13 Reasons Why camp by tweeting a screenshot of a report by Deadline, and expressing her excitement. She also wished him luck at the Oscars on Sunday, where he is up for Best Director and his film Spotlight is up for Best Picture, among other honors.
