CBS Films has enlisted Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman to work on the script for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Guillermo del Toro’s movie based on the spooky children’s book trilogy.

The sibling screenwriters’ credits include The Lego Movie, Hotel Transylvania, and the upcoming Lego spin-off movie Ninjago, and they’re well acquainted with Del Toro after collaborating on his forthcoming Netflix series Trollhunters.

They’ll polish a script that was originally penned by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, and also worked on by John August.

Del Toro confirmed last month that he’s developing Scary Stories with an eye to direct, adding that he’s a lifelong fan of the Alvin Schwartz books.

The Hollywood Reporter first posted on the Hagemans’ involvement.
