NBC announced on Tuesday that it has renewed Superstore for a second season. The single-camera comedy, which centers on the employees of a Wal-Mart-like big box store named Cloud 9, debuted in November and has attracted an average of 6.9 million viewers per episode while earning a 2.1 in the 18–49 demo, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-seven day numbers. It has been the network’s highest-rated new comedy over the last two seasons.
Superstore‘s season 1 finale aired Tuesday on NBC, which has yet to make a decision on the lower-rated Monday night companion comedy Telenovela.
