Warning: This story contains spoilers from Friday’s episode of Sleepy Hollow.

We’ve reached the end of the road for Zoe (Maya Kazan) and Crane (Tom Mison).

The historian and the man from another time fell out of touch while Crane was busy searching for partner Abbie (Nicole Beharie), and on Friday’s Sleepy Hollow, he had to face up to the consequences. After a stilted reunion that resulted in her first brush with the supernatural, Zoe left Crane on good terms, telling him that she did believe him to be ready for a committed relationship — just not with her. Is this the last we’ll see of Zoe?

“It doesn’t look very good for her,” Kazan tells EW, “but you never know. The world of Sleepy Hollow — anything can happen.”

If Zoe does find her way back to the show, Kazan has some ideas. “I would hope that they would use her knowledge of history,” she says. “I think there’s some comedy to be had in her understanding of history versus Crane’s, because she’s really knowledgeable about what we think about history, and Crane knows what actually happened. So I feel like that might be fun to play with.”

Regardless of whether she returns, Kazan has already gained a few new skills from her Sleepy Hollow experience. “I got to work with a stunt double, who was amazing,” Kazan says. “Learning about how to fall correctly and how to position your body correctly to be picked up by somebody was really interesting.”

The actress also praises the “great group of people” behind the show, adding that she felt immediately welcomed on set. Mison, with whom she shared most of her scenes, made her a list of things to do in Atlanta while she was in town to film.

“I think he’s incredibly talented actor and just one of the nicest people of my acquaintance,” Kazan says. “People fall in love with Crane as a character because he’s so charming and lovely, and that’s really true of Tom as well. I think there’s a lot about Crane that is just Tom.”
