2016 DICE Awards winners: Fallout 4 wins Game of the Year
- Video Games
Bethesda’s return to the wasteland proved a popular one, as Fallout 4 took home the top prize at the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ 19th annual D.I.C.E. Awards.
Fallout 4 was one of four different games, however, to win three awards each, including Ori and the Blind Forest, Rocket League, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. A number of other games were also honored for their accomplishments in 2015.
Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic open-world adventure set in the area of New England known in the game’s world as the Commonwealth recently had a slate of post-launch additional content announced for it, with much more promised on the way.
In addition to the games being awards at D.I.C.E., several individuals from the industry were also honored. Hideo Kojima was inducted as the AIAS’ 21st Hall of Fame recipient, following a year which saw him split from publisher Konami and his long-running franchise Metal Gear Solid before branching off to form his own independent studio and partnering with Sony to produce his next game.
Additionaly, the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, who died last year, was given a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.
Microsoft’s Visual Basic won the second Technical Impact Award.
