Grammys 2016: Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda raps speech
Hamilton has broken many boundaries when it comes to Broadway success, so it’s no surprise creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda did the same when it came time to accept the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album Monday night.
Just minutes after the musical’s cast performed the opening number live from the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City, Seth MacFarlane announced Hamilton won its first Grammy. Miranda rhymed every line of his 45-second acceptance speech and shouted out all the players who made Hamilton a Broadway phenomenon.

The hashtag #GramforHam had been trending during the cast’s televised performance, and fans exploded with excitement when the musical won an actual Grammy moments later.
