Hannibal Buress is going from Broad City to the beach. The comedian and actor has joined Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, and Alexandra Daddario in Paramount’s big-screen adaptation of the ’90s TV series Baywatch, EW has confirmed.

Buress will play a member of the local beach community in the comedy about an elite crew of lifeguards (led by Johnson) who team up with a hotheaded ex-Olympian (Efron) to keep the shores safe. The cast also includes Kelly Rohrbach and Priyanka Chopra.

Johnson welcomed Buress to the “Baywatch fam” on Twitter but warned, “Don’t bring your thong brotha.”

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses, The King of Kong) is directing Baywatch, which starts shooting this month.

In addition to his role as Lincoln Rice on Comedy Central’s Broad City, Buress is known as the stand-up comic who called Bill Cosby a “rapist” during a 2014 set, bringing renewed attention to the numerous assault allegations against him.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the casting.
