A new LEGO Star Wars series is coming to Disney XD —The Freemaker Adventures, about a family of scavengers who eke out a living amid the galaxy’s colossal battles.
The Freemakers rebuild damaged starships and sell scrap they’ve salvaged from the wreckage of various clashes. But things change for them when their youngest child displays Force sensitivity through an artifact they discover known as the Kyber Saber.
Although the Freemakers are new characters, Disney XD teases that they’ll be encountering familiar faces in their struggle against the Galactic Empire. So although this first teaser image includes a battle droid — suggesting a prequels influence — it sounds like this series will take place well after that era.
LEGO stories are always a bit on the playful side, so don’t expect the more serious drama associated with Disney XD’s other Star Wars show – Rebels, which chronicles the rise of the Rebellion long before the events depicted in 1977’s original Star Wars.
