Nasim Pedrad is set to play a gawky 14-year-old boy in Chad: An American Boy, a comedy pilot given the greenlight by Fox on Wednesday.

The Saturday Night Live alum — and 30-something woman — is also co-writing and executive producing the show, about a kid who’s tasked with being the man of the house while still dealing with the trials and tribulations of adolescence.

Rob Rosell is penning the single-camera, half-hour comedy with Pedrad, and Jason Winer will direct. All three will exec produce alongside Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky.

“I’m thrilled to be able to portray a Middle Eastern family not working for or against Jack Bauer on network TV,” Pedrad said in a statement. “Also, a big thank you to Fox for understanding that my true essence is that of an awkward and misguided 14-year-old boy.”
