Xavier Dolan’s next movie has nabbed three stars for its growing cast.

Natalie Portman, Nicholas Hoult, and Thandie Newton are the most recent additions to The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, Dolan’s reps confirmed to EW. The 26-year-old director’s current project will also star Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Taylor Kitsch, Susan Sarandon, Michael Gambon, Bella Thorne, and Kathy Bates.

Set in the early 2000s, the film centers on the titular Donovan (Harington), an American TV star in his late 20s, and his correspondence with Rupert Turner, a young actor-to-be living with his mother in England. Their lives take dramatic turns when the existence of their pen-pal relationship is publicly exposed, eliciting the most ill-founded assumptions, and sending Donovan in a vertical downfall. Ten years later, Turner recollects his relationship with his past idol during an interview.

The Death and Life will be the precocious Dolan’s first English-language film. The Canadian director’s fifth film, Mommy, garnered critical acclaim upon its release last year.

Salinger movie, Rebel in the Rye, and will also pop up as Beast in May’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Newton, meanwhile, will appear in HBO’s spin on author Michael Crichton’s sci-fi western film Westworld.
