After teasing a secret project with daughter River Rose, Kelly Clarkson announced Tuesday she will release her first children’s book. Called River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, the book will be out this October and illustrated by Laura Hughes.

Clarkson revealed the news in a video posted to Twitter. “It was a cool thing to be on a plane with my daughter,” she said. “I started writing down these little fun stories… and I thought I’d write little stories for her and put pictures with it. That was the initial idea. The little stories ended up turning into a book, for each place we kind of went.”

She continued: “I guess my hope is for little kids to read River Rose and be inspired by it and know they can achieve anything and they can still dream big and make big things happen.”

“The first time I heard Kelly talk about this project, I knew it was something special,” said David Linker, Executive Editor, HarperCollins Children’s Books, in a statement. “Her passion for the story and musical ear for the rhythm and melody that make for great storytelling was evident from the very first draft. It’s been a true labor of love.”
