Maisie Williams wants to pilot the TARDIS — that is, if Idris Elba is unavailable.

The Game of Thrones actress and previous Doctor Who guest star says it’s time for a woman or a person of color to portray the eponymous time-traveling hero at the center of BBC’s longrunning sci-fi adventure series.

“I think a black Doctor would be incredible,” Williams told the Evening Standard at the publication’s British Film Awards. “I’m all for Idris Elba.”

And if the Beasts of No Nation actor and two-time Screen Actors Guild award-winner is unavailable to traverse time and space in a blue police box?

“… I’ll take it for the team and do it!” Williams added.

The actress has appeared in four episodes of Who alongside Peter Capaldi, who took over from Matt Smith in 2014. And with lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat exiting the show next year, some big changes are bound to follow.

But don’t get your hopes up just yet, Whovians. It might be a while before Williams has a crack at wielding the sonic screwdriver. “Yes it would be cool, but right now I’m locked into some other things,” she said. “I think a female doctor would be incredible.”

So do we. May we suggest Lena Headey?
