  • James Franco, Kristen Stewart, and Helena Bonham Carter have been added to JT LeRoy. The film is based on the true story of author Laura Albert, who used JT LeRoy as her pen name and enlisted a young woman, Savannah Knoop, to pose as LeRoy (thought to be a transgender man) in public. Knoop’s life and memoir, Girl Boy Girl: How I Became JT Leroy, serve as the inspiration for writer-director Justin Kelly‘s (I Am Michael) screenplay. Filming is expected to begin later this year. From director Mark Pellington (Arlington Road) and writer Stuart Ross Fink, the movie follows an elderly, controlling businesswoman who writes her own manicured obituary. A young journalist (Seyfried) is determined to uncover the real story. Heche plays MacLaine’s daughter, and Hall plays her ex-husband. Meanwhile, Scott portrays the paper’s editor, and Speedman plays a DJ. Filming is underway. [Variety]
