Movie endings take many forms: Some pull the rug out from under the audience, while others wrap things up in a tidy package. Some are more thematic, while others are primarily visual. And some are just downright classics.

In an effort to quantify the best final film shots of all time, the YouTube channel CineFix has put together a collection of 10 distinct types, each with a few examples but ultimately represented by a single selection. To get the ball rolling with an example, Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey comes in at No. 10, as a film with a great symbolic closing shot.

Other movies appearing on the list include The Piano, Fight Club, and The Searchers.
