They say that the best way to fix something is to take it all apart and put it back together. And in the new trailer for Jean-Marc Vallee’s Demolition, Jake Gyllenhaal takes that advice literally.

Gyllenhaal stars as an investment banker reeling from his wife’s recent death in a car crash. Pressured by his father-in-law (Chris Cooper) to get his life back on track, he takes to writing candid complaint letters to a vending machine company, piquing the interest of a customer service rep named Karen (Naomi Watts) and her rebellious son Chris (Judah Lewis).

Demolition made its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September, and it’s headlining this year’s South by Southwest Festival, which runs March 11-19. It opens in select U.S. theaters on April 8.
