Hamilton: Los Angeles run coming in 2017 as part of national tour
Chicago isn’t the only city lucky enough to say they have Broadway’s biggest musical coming to its stage — Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre announced Tuesday that Hamilton would be part of its upcoming 2016-2017 season, along with hit shows such as Book of Mormon, The Bodyguard, An American in Paris, Finding Neverland, The King and I, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
“The exceptional shows we have in store for next season…is the type of lineup that reminds us all why we LOVE theatre,” Patanges General Manager Martin Wiviott said in a statement. “Featuring stories from classic music-makers like Rodgers & Hammerstein and George & Ira Gershwin…to today’s theatrical trailblazers, such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Diane Paulus & John Cameron Mitchell…we are pleased to invite you to join us when the lights go down and the curtain goes up on a memorable and momentous theatrical journey.”
According to The New York Times, the Los Angeles production is part of a national tour that will kick off in San Francisco at the Opheum Theatre in March 2017, where it will run for 21 weeks. Hamilton will begin its run at the Pantages Aug. 17, 2017 and will run until Dec. 30. The theatre also announced its slate of shows via Instagram this morning.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s show about the life of Alexander Hamilton and the Founding Fathers is currently Broadway’s hottest ticket — and the one hardest to get, with sold out engagements and a lottery that crashed when producers tried to move it online. But for those of you who can’t secure tickets in New York, at least now you have the option of traveling to the West Coast.
