  • Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism) is taking a vow for Novitiate. From first-time director Maggie Betts, the movie centers on a young nun in the ’60s (Margaret Qualley of The Leftovers) whose faith in Catholicism wavers. Oscar-winner Melissa Leo has signed on to play the Reverend Mother. Former Glee star Dianna Agron will play a young nun, and Bell is tapped to play Sister Margaret. Filming begins this month in Nashville, Tennessee. [The Wrap]
  • Chloe Sevigny‘s directorial debut has a home. Refinery29 will begin a short-film series for rising female filmmakers called ShatterBox Anthology, where Sevigny’s Kitty will debut. The movie is based on Paul Bowles‘ story, about a little girl who dreams of being a cat — and becomes one. Kitty also stars Ione Skye and Lee Meriweather. [Variety]
  • Keith Carradine and Lesley Ann Warren will play the titular leads in Ray Meets Helen. Writer-director Alan Rudolph‘s (Afterglow) project follows two separate people, each undergoing mid-life struggles and self-reinvention before finally meeting. The trio worked together on Choose Me (1984). Filming begins this spring. [Variety]
  • xXx: The Return of Xander Cage continues to fill its cast. Andrey Ivchenko joins the Vin Diesel-starring movie as one of the antagonists. Samuel L. Jackson, Jet Li, Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, and Deepika Padukone also star, and D.J. Caruso directs. The plot is unknown, but filming commences this month. [Variety]
  • Amazon has snapped up writer-director Todd Solondz‘s Sundance filmWiener-Dog. The movie stars Greta Gerwig, Kieran Culkin, Danny DeVito, Ellen Burstyn, and Julie Delpy. The comedy centers on the connections between a variety of people and a dachshund. [The Hollywood Reporter]
